What are Kizik Shoes?

The Kizik Athens has a clean and straightforward design. The mesh upper is breathable and keeps your feet cool. The insoles are removable and washable, which is handy for a shoe you wear every day. Follow the care instructions for your pair before washing them.
The cushioning is made of something called Rabbit Foam and seems to be solid yet supportive. The “Rubber Traction Pods” on the bottom look nice, and their design doesn’t leave much room for rocks to get caught on the bottom of your shoes.
The laces are adjustable, so they are not just there for show; you can tighten the shoe up a bit more if you like. The back lattice-shaped rubber material is part of the “HandsFree Labs Technology” that allows you to slip these on without bending over or struggling with them.
The insole and the soles are sturdy and supportive and give a nice cushy stride. The ankle support is good; it could be better, but it’s not horrible, and this is subjective and based on how your feet and ankles are built.
Is Kizik Shoes Expensive?

When we reviewed it, the Kizik Athens was priced at $119, so it isn’t cheap. Prices change, so check the current price. I think they are worth it for the comfort and the hands-free design, which other sneakers at this price do not give.
Are Kizik Shoes Machine Washable?

We don’t recommend putting the shoes themselves in the washing machine. Like most sneakers, the heat and tumbling can weaken glues and the heel structure that makes the hands-free entry work.
Instead, clean the uppers with a damp cloth, mild soap, and water, then let them air dry away from direct heat. Take the insoles out and wash them separately, following the care instructions for your pair.
Conclusion
I think the Kizik Shoes are amazing, in that they provide you with something other shoes do not have. They are well designed and comfortable, and they allow you to slip them on and not worry about ruining the back heels.
They are a bit pricey, but most good shoes are nowadays because of the brand. However, these shoes are worth the price you pay. I recommend you give them a try, and check the return policy in case they don’t suit you.
When you try them on, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons suggests leaving at least 1/2 inch between your longest toe and the tip of the shoe and shopping at the end of the day, when your feet are largest. If you plan to run in them, remember that shoe cushioning wears down with mileage.
